Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy may be added as an enhancement to any massage session. This enhancement provides guests with a more therapeutic experience. Aromatherapy uses essential oils to promote relaxation and relief during your massage. Your Massage Therapist will blend the essential oil of your choice with massage oil or lotion and safely apply it to your skin and/or add a small amount to a tissue or towel for inhalation throughout the service.

Our essential oils are derived from natural sources using different extraction methods, such as steam distillation or a mechanical method known as cold pressing.

Essential Oils

At LaVida Massage, we offer a variety of essential oils, each with its own unique aroma and set of benefits.

  • Peppermint: Fresh, strong, minty, slightly peppery aroma. Peppermint may help alleviate headaches, improve mental awareness when inhaled, and reduce stress.
  • Lavender: Sweet, floral, woodsy aroma. Used to promote deep relaxation during a massage session and may also help support sleep at home.
  • Eucalyptus: Minty, cooling, sharp aroma. Promotes sinus health and may help ease soreness when used with a topical analgesic.
  • Frankincense: Unique fragrance with hints of camphor and citrus. Promotes reduced inflammation and has antibacterial properties.
  • Spearmint: Refreshing minty aroma that is more subtle and gentle than peppermint. May soothe nausea when inhaled and help relieve headaches and cold symptoms.

LaVida Massage Custom Blends

We also offer LaVida Massage essential oil custom blends, including:

  • Happy Life: A combination of bergamot, orange, lime, grapefruit, and lemon oils that creates an uplifting, refreshing, and energizing aroma.

Aromatherapy Methodology

One of the most common and effective applications is the direct inhalation method. During this method, your Massage Therapist places a measured amount of essential oil on a cotton ball or tissue positioned under the face cradle during your session. This approach is especially popular for oils intended to support respiratory or sinus relief, as well as the calming psychological benefits of aromatherapy. If you have a history of nasal concerns or allergies, please use caution.

Another common practice is blending essential oil into massage lotion for topical application. Because some oils are potent enough to irritate the skin, this method is not available for all oils. Please consult your Massage Therapist with any questions about how to best incorporate essential oils and aromatherapy into your next session at LaVida Massage.
